The trail is 12 miles long, and knowing where you are and how long before you return makes the hike much more enjoyable. The GPS reception is available for most of the hike. When tall trees and mountains block GPS signal the manuel mode is really all that is needed with 70 way points that include pictures and time remaining on the trail Parking at Big Basin is $10, a park map is $5. TrailGPS at $2.00 is a bargin. You can also view the trail off line to decide if you desire to make the hike.
